RVers Packing Guide: Misc. Multi-Functional Items to Always Pack
You have made it to part 3! Part 1 & 2 of our series looked at some basic necessities that you may want to pack that will be used during your weekend.
Part 3 is going to look at some items that may not necessarily be needed, but are handy to have because they can be used for a number of things and are great to have in a pinch. These are things that are great to leave in the trailer so they can be brought on every adventure and aren't forgotten.
Miscellaneous Items
Duct Tape
Not sure this one even needs an explanation, but as the old saying goes:
"If you can't fix it with duct tape, you probably aren't using enough duct tape"
Zip Ties
These work great for hangings things up and fastening items together, especially if you are knot very good tying rope (#DadJoke). Zip ties can also be used for organizing items together (i.e. utensils) or compressing folding clothes, blankets if you are really short on storage space. Come to think of it, they can pretty much do anything
Broom
There is a pretty good chance that if you are camping you will be near dirt and sand. A broom is key for keeping your inside AND outside the trailer nice and clean
Small Tool Kit
You never know when you will need to hammer something in, or screw something, or cut something with a hatchet. A small toolbox will be a great thing to stowaway when camping for all sorts of scenarios
Caffeine!!
If you are like most of us, the day doesn't start until you have had coffee or tea. Camping should not be an exception to this rule as there is nothing like enjoying a hot cup of joe outside your trailer in the morning. French Press, percolator and kettles are just a few of the ways you can make the perfect cup of morning caffeine and none of them require hydro to heat up
Honorable Mentions
Here is a list of a few more items you want to consider packing for your next RV trip too:
- Bike lock (if bringing any bikes/kayaks etc. that will be stored outdoors at night)
- Beach umbrella and base
- Plastic pail (for dish washing and getting water if needed)
- Swiss army knife
- Extra rope
- Wood blocks
- Leveling pads
- First Aid Kit
- Garbage bags
- Spare batteries for things like flashlights
This definitely is not a comprehensive checklist but should be enough to get the wheels turning! If you think we forgot anything comment below.
Happy Camping!
